after/party

It’s over! And I think it’s safe to say that our launch party for BIRD was a success! We actually sold OUT of books within about 20 minutes…I didn’t realize so many people were planning to buy multiple copies. It was intense–I’m not a very social person, but it was lovely to be surrounded by so many loving friends–it’s their support that’s brought me to this point. My cousin Bethany took the overnight bus from Toronto and spent the entire party serving cake and drinks to my guests…Kate, my friend from Nova Scotia, also helped to set up and then refused to let me help with the clean up…it was a real honor to sign people’s books…I’m so grateful that the book exists, that others find value and meaning in it, and that adults want to share it with the kids in their lives. I didn’t actually take many photos, just this one of us prior to leaving the house–that’s probably the girliest I’ve looked in a long while: heels, dark lip color, jewelry, and a snug sweater dress! I couldn’t have survived this experience without my many friends, so thanks to you all!
