I just tuned in....I'm enjoying your process and your comments as they unfold.
Love the wine colored pages, goldish borders, & the idea of using Morrisy designs is intriguing.
The words are powerful...the hands on previous blog pages remind me of Kadir Nelson's book.
You've got some good vibes going on here but like you, I'm not too sure of the blue and the camel image...feels like the camel should be headed in the opposite direction.
I love one-of-a kind art books and have been planning to create some for a while but never seem to have the time.
This holiday season I'm sticking to making decorations for a wreath for the door. (:-)
thanks, Cheryl! I've been meaning to dig my little wreath out of the closet...you should definitely make a book (when you have a spare moment, wink); I'm learning to think of this as one book of many--no decision is *that* crucial, b/c I could make fifty books for this one story and never exhaust the possibilities. I'm thinking I'll blot out the wine paint for the camel page and move on (though I'm keeping my other camels for future use!)
It's really coming along! I've enjoyed watching the process unfold :) If I had artistic talent, I would try and make a picture book, but I don't have an artisitc bone in my body. haha
not true, Ari--if you can design or select a theme for your blog, if you can put together outfits to wear to school each day, you can make art! notice I haven't actually drawn anything...it's all mix and match, cut and paste. the artistic version of "just add water"!
Heehee touche! I like making collages but that's about it. I've never really been good at mixing amd matching clothes though ;) I could probably try this over the summer just using images...
