no excuses

One of the best things about Susan and Doret and Edi is that they’re ALWAYS coming up with great lists of books.  And that means NO ONE has an excuse for not celebrating diversity in children’s literature.  I haven’t yet featured any Latino authors for Hispanic Heritage Month; part of me wants to boycott on principle: Latino authors should be celebrated all year round!  But this list really intrigues me; you can find the original post at Color Online, and Susan’s asking for links to reviews, so swing by.  Here are my links for books I’ve read recently: Marcelo in the Real World, Ball Don’t Lie, Down to the Bone, Drum, Chavi, Drum and Gringolandia.
