birdwinner Hurray! Shadra–the brilliant artist who illustrated BIRD–just won the Ezra Jack Keats New Illustrator Award!!!! I *love* EJK, and to have a little Peter on the cover of my book is *such* a thrill…and to think, some folks didn’t want BIRD to be a fully illustrated book!
