April is National Poetry Month!
A Wrung Sponge challenged me to write a haiku a day for the month of April; I could feel some bubbling inside of me this weekend, but held off and only wrote these today (I promise):
Sunday in Brooklyn
smothered by fog I amble
through the streets alone
***
warm, fragrant air seeps
from the laundromat, masking
the sewer’s raw stench
***
my heart remembers
walking these streets years ago
eyes wide with wonder
***
and now I return
wiser yet still awed by the
beauty of Brooklyn
