I agree, Doret--and it was a total surprise b/c I was sure they said my photo was going to go on the back of the book...now it's the last inside page (photo/bio) and this soft period painting of NYC has the final word...they let me pare the blurb down, and I agree--it's clean!
Psh, a spine shot is never going too far! That way we get the whole view of the book! Plus, in bookstores, spines are often the first thing I see. Spines = very very important photo shoot. =D
And, I LOVE THE SPINE. I love how the author and title name is so clear and readable (very very important) and I love the background blue tones go with the front cover and how the very light beige-ish colour around the title matches the backcover. a;sldkfjals very awesome. I've decided: this is my favourite cover. I muuuuuuust have this version of my own. *crossing my fingers in hopes that Toronto Women's Bookstore will carry this copy of your book this time around as well*

I zeroed right in on the spine shot and imagined it on a shelf in my school library, next to where I shelved the pink cover. Wish I had kept it, but o well! It needed to be read!!!
Alright, ladies--point taken: the spine matters! I'm going to go crunch some numbers...I told that reporter I'd sold close to a thousand copies of Wish and he put down 500...maybe I just *imagined* Wish was selling well b/c you all gave it so much love!
Congratulations! The copy I bought last year has been pretty much checked out of the library since I handed it over--I'm sure you'll be finding thousands of new readers now.
Thank you, Charlotte--for supporting me AND your public library....that was my main source of books growing up, and I do hope my books will be available to kids who rely on the library just as much.
So excellent! I got my pre-ordered copy about 10 days ago, and just asked for another class set to be ordered for my group. Can't wait to get that box!
I ordered through Amazon, but thanks for the Baker and Taylor tip. I'll see if we can place the order through them. Amazon is suddenly saying that the book isn't going to be available for another two weeks.
