near perfect day
drummers in the park
stir my imagination:
Judah summons me!
It’s almost time to start writing again. This summer is supposed to be devoted to finishing Judah’s Tale, the sequel to my YA novel, A Wish After Midnight. I’m having a hard time focusing these days, and that tells me my mind is roaming…several days I’ve woken up hearing Judah’s voice–he’s ready to finish telling me his story! I woke with a headache today but thought I caught it in time; ventured outside hoping fresh air and sunshine would help…wandered through the garden, but didn’t linger since the throngs of people made it hard to enjoy paths I usually walk alone; ambled through the farmer’s market in Grand Army Plaza after picking up The Door of No Return at the library; bought a Danish raspberry shortbread treat; walked along the outside of Prospect Park, admired the late-blooming lemon-colored magnolias…mailed some books at the post office, picked up lunch at my favorite Thai place, and it wasn’t until I sat down to wait for my food that the migraine returned–should have kept moving! So I lost most of the afternoon, but woke around 5pm, watched a travel show on Bath (one of my favorite destinations in England!), and now I’m ready to work on the study guide that will accompany my YA novel. My friend in Michigan wants two sets of books for her high school, but hinted that a study guide would help seal the deal with her principal…experienced some inner turmoil last night, but am thankful for my friends and their invaluable advice; when people mistreat you, what matters most is how you respond to their shabby behavior. Now, I’m a Scorpio, and we’re known for being vindictive and unyielding. I don’t plot revenge against people who cross me, but I do hold onto those hurts for a long time. Still, I don’t want to let someone else’s jackassery bring me down. Losing half a day to a migraine is bad enough; no need to sink to their level and act like a jerk myself. So here’s to living without malice, avoiding this terrifying swine flu, and having a productive weekend!
