snow day

SNOW DAY!  I can hear the plows scraping the streets on my block…NYC is expected to get up to a foot of snow by this afternoon, and MA is getting blanketed as well, so I am playing it safe and not shlepping up there today.  I’m sure my students won’t mind, though I see that our college hasn’t officially closed.  Ezra Jack Keats’ The Snowy Day is one of my favorite children’s books–remember how snow filled you with awe when you were a child?  Nothing else could transform your landscape so entirely, so quickly…I’d love to visit the garden today, but it’s closed on Mondays.  Maybe I’ll brave the slippery sidewalks and try to reach the park instead.  If you are snowbound and glued to your computer, I hope you’ll check out a new review of A Wish After Midnight posted by Doret at The Happy Nappy Bookseller.  I want to thank everyone for their amazing response to my call for help–I’ve got 5 future reviews of Wish lined up, and couldn’t be happier!  Thanks!
