please give

Please give whatever you can to organizations providing relief to the earthquake victims in Haiti. Unicef is one org that’s already on the ground; Neesha reports that singer Wyclef Jean is also accepting donations at this site, Yele.org (I can’t get through to this site, but my friend Erica shared this on Facebook):

Haitian Wyclef Jean was on CNN LAST NIGHT requesting $5 donations for relief fund. You just need to TEXT “Yele” to 501501. I did it. Please join me. They will charge the donation to your phone and send you a text to verify your donation.

Edi over at Crazy Quilts also has a non-profit you can support. Please, do what you can to help those in need…

Good idea, Kate. Here's a link to Wyclef's blog:

Hi Zetta,
I also posted information I received from Heifer International requesting donations. It's good to have this post to co ordinate things.

I saw the postings on your Facebook about the possibility of eventually helping a school or library. Sounds like a wonderful idea to me! I'd be glad to do whatever I can to help.

Thanks, Edi--I love Heifer! I'm guessing it'll be a long while before we can think of sending books, but maybe we should at least look into finding publishers of books in Creole or French...
